The End of an Era

A few months ago, the last remaining Little Tavern closed, and along with it a sub-culture. Having lived in College Park at one point, which had its own "Club LT" on Route 1, I can attest to the popularity of the restaurant chain, even if I never could understand why. Maybe it was because the food served was cheap. Considering the names that locals gave to the various meals, it's hard to believe that the popularity stemmed from the taste. Regular burger were known as "death Balls", cheeseburgers were "Yellow Death" and the chili was "Red Death". While the College Park Club LT dd a fair business at night feeding the inebriated, it also had a steady morning trade catering to the local business people in search of coffee. At one point, I knew the easiest way to find my profs was to drop by the LT in the morning (or the Gardens at night).

there is a little tavern still open on Holibird avenue across from the Holibird industrial park.
